After the long wait, Kasaba is all set to release in the festive season of Eid on July 7th in around 150 screens in Kerala and about a few hundred screens outside Kerala. With Mega Star Mammootty in the lead role, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar (popular Tamil actress, whose debut movie was Podaa Podi) and Neha Saxena will be appearing in supporting roles. The genre of the movie is comedy-thriller, written and directed by Nithin Renji Panicker, son of popular Malayalam scriptwriter Renji Panicker. This will be his debut movie. Music is composed by Rahul Raj. The movie portrays the Mega Star as a short tempered police officer. Initially, Laxmi Rai was reported to play the female lead which was later assigned to Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.

The first look posters of the movie achieved wide appreciation. Recently, Mega Star Mammootty himself shared some of the troll photos in Facebook which mocked the first look poster of the movie. The following trolls are a few among them.

Apart from the fact that the director of the movie is the son of the popular director Renji Panicker, the female lead Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is the daughter of popular South Indian actor turned politician, Sarathkumar.

As per the latest reports, Varalaxmi will be playing as Kamala who imparts a major role in the investigation carried out by Circle Inspector Rajan Zachariah, played by Mammootty. Sampath Raj, the popular Tamil actor plays as the antagonist in the plot.

Another interesting associated with the movie is that, as per some reports, the movie will turn out to be one of the greatest movies of Mammootty for the year. The movie is expected to have a wide release as mentioned previously. It is surely a great treat for the fans and the Mega Star is performing as a police officer after a long gap (recent was Daddy Cool in the year 2009). As for now, the film is going to be released with lots of expectations.
